It can't be that small a problem if they're recalling and stopping stock. If it was a minority it would only be certain batches being stopped or recalled. They must be worried about something if they're stopping stock. Id quite like too see what Gibbo has to say about this, see if they've had any official word.

The fact Intel have put their hands up is good imo, and if there's any problems with boards RMA time. Yes, early adopters run the risk, but hey, to be on the extreme bleeding edge is what overclocking is about right? ;)

I think this is overhyped a bit tbh, look at the key points highlighted below

There's no way to know if yours is affected or not unless you want to sit around until the degrade kicks in by which time you may well be outside of the recall window.

It's better to be safe than sorry and all H67/P67 owners should swapout :p

They're worried about having to do a mass recall 1-2yrs down the line when the chipsets actually start failing, it's easier to do such a recall early on with less boards in the wild.

You have to give them credit for admitting to it, Microsoft are still happily selling faulty consoles.

So in April your be able to get a brand new motherboard replaced for free with the warranty starting again on that motherboard and all the BIOS will be more mature and a-lot more stable.
This will cost intel lots due to OEM's like Dell/HP having to recall and fact you can just swap out a chip set the whole mobo going to get thrown in the bin. Thought there stock would have dropped more

That would be the ideal situation. I recon most will deal with retailers.

Awww how i miss the cynical people who run at the first point of issues with a product. Welcome to being the first adopter!!! Id sit and wait as your not the only one with the issue.

No need to get smart

We all have opinions and thoughts ok.

What the rumor that this only effect's rather large batch after 8th of jan ?

EDIT: Stupid news website that was the release date, not batch ...

I hope they offer swap outs for affected chips as this is cutting it VERY fine to my lan tournament :(.

Im not overally bothered as this isnt the first time ive had to do a recall.

do the recall after your lan?

its only the sata port performance will degrade over time... so you should be fine waiting until after...
