Soup guize, quick question. A friend has bought 8GB of 1.65V 1600MHz RAM (This) with his 2500k and i'm just wondering if it's worth trying to swap it out for a 1.5V kit? We dont really want to risk frying anything or limiting the CPU's lifespan so i'd rather stick to the reccomended 1.5V RAM. I know that the RAM could work at a lower speed with 1.5V but still, that's not whats wanted really.

What are the chances of being able to drop it in the overclockers store, swapping it out and paying the difference? Or can anybody guarantee that we could use that RAM at 1600mhz and not have a problem?

Thanks :)

The quoted 1600MHz is above the JDEC specification and will require the 1.65 VDIM which according to Corsair has been tested so will be fine but you'll need to enable the XMP profile. You can set the same RAM to the highest JDEC (SPD) setting 1333MHz which will only need 1.5v to operate.

Spec here (4gb version but no different)

Edit - Nutshell - you're RAM is fine :)
