Sanity check

I'm not of fan of koolink PSU but the Continuum is probably there best product and reviews well.

An 850w PSU is more than enough for the 5070ti but 1200w gives plenty of room for upgrades and lots of other options around £150 price point.

Where's the rest of the pc ? :D

Haha cheers rest of the pc is upstairs haha

Already have 32gb of trident z
AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3d
MSI mag tomahawk x870e mobo
MSI core liquid cooler
Zotac 4070 super
And Corsair rmx 850 wtt PSU

The 5070ti isn't a big enough upgrade from your 4070 super imo

What resolution you gaming at ?
Think I should give it a miss then don't think I can push much more then that price wise , I currently play gray zone at highest settings but with the new update coming didn't know if I should boost it

Looks good to me.

Considering your 9800x3d, I would say the 4070 Super at 12GB is going to be holding you back, but it depends on your use case. Does VRAM make a difference with Gray Zone?

I upgraded from a 12GB 4070 to a 16GB 5070Ti this week, and although I've only spent a minimal time testing it, I know that for my use case (iracing VR), that it was a worthy upgrade.

Thing is, if it's not worth upgrading to the 5070ti, it's not going to be worth upgrading to the 5080 either (5070ti is arguably better value than the 5080 per £).

So then that basically just leaves you with the 5090 unless you want to roll the dice with a used 4090... :(

And Corsair rmx 850 wtt PSU
What is the reason for the PSU?

If you upgrade from a pre-ATX 3.x PSU to another pre-ATX 3.x PSU, I don't really see the point, especially when you're using nvidia card which needs the 16-pin.

According to TPU's GPU database it is around 35% faster, if you're repurposing the old one for another system or getting a good resale then I guess it isn't that bad, but not an upgrade I'd make unless I was desperately struggling for playability at a high res like 1440p ultrawide or 4K.

I wouldn't be spending £150 on a psu that only has a 5 year warranty and I certainly wouuldn't be buying a Kolink. What is wrong with your Corsair RM850x as that should be more than enough for that spec of pc? If you really want a new 1200w psu take a look at the Asrock Steel Legend 1200w which is a quality psu with a ten year warranty and more compact than the huge Kolink. If you want braided cables spend a extra tenner on the Phanteks AMP GH 1200w v2 which comes with it's own very nice braided cables so no need for extensions. It has a shorter warranty than the Asrock at eight years but that still three more than the Kolink.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £317.84 (includes delivery: £7.99)

I honestly wouldn't install a Kolink PSU in my system if it was free.

Your list in the OP comes out to £1222 and almost all of it is pointless.

Keep your current Corsair RM850x and case, unless the case is too small for a larger card. See how much you might be able to sell your 4070S for, assuming you get a decent amount you could consider a 5080 as there would be a performance and VRAM bump. If you can't be hassled with online market places, CeX should give you £300 for it at absolute worst.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £997.98 (includes delivery: £7.99)

Also factor in the free copy of RE9 assuming you plan on buying it, if not you should be able to get £30-35 for the key.

Still, I'd argue it's a stretch as the 5080 isn't a gigantic performance jump and they are very expensive for what they offer.

Ok still sounds good would I need the PSU at all then just keep the 850 ?

I bought it in 2020 , Corsair RmX850
I assume that's a pre-ATX 3.x model. Did you buy a 12vHPWR/12v-2x6 cable for your 4070 Super, or use the box adapter?

The box adapter on your current card is probably 2x PCIE 8-pin, whereas a 5080 I'd expect to be 3x8. If you have the 3x PCIE then it should be alright with your current PSU.

I used the adapter that came with the card
