I have struggled with 2 crappy play and charge kits for my XBox for the past year, neither of the batteries are brilliant. I finally invested in a set of Sanyo Eneloops and I have to say that I wish that I had done sooner. A set of 4 batteries and charger were cheaper than a play and charge and they last longer and I always have a set ready to go. If you want rapid charging you can always invest in the MQR06 charger which will rapid charge 4 batteries in under 4 hours but costs about a tenner more.

Uniross hybrio batteries are great too but half the price of the Eneloop.

I've had significantly more success from eneloops when it comes to storing them for long periods of time without use. The Hybrios are better than normal rechargables for sure so not a bad investement, but the eneloops are worth the extra imo.

The hybrios especially haven't liked the cold weather as of late whereas the eneloops seem pretty much unaffected.

I dont know about the Uniross but I do know that Apple now sell Eneloops (unbranded of course) as RECHARGEABLE batteries. They claim that they are their own, but they are in fact Eneloops.

Earlier red, black and green Hybrios seem better out of the ones I've got. I'm going to try Eneloops next as all these made in china batteries in some usage patterns don't do much better than my older made in Japan Energiser 2500mAh.

how long do eneloops take to charge? reason why im asking is, the one im looking at is a quick charger, with two batteries. im thinking i'll only ever need the two for my xbox controller. but if i run out..how long is it till they charge? :p

I have the one you're talking about and it takes around 4 hours. It's so much better than the xbox play and charge kit.
On the play and charge kit battery life is around 7-10 hours but on the Eneloops it's been well over 30 hours since I last charged them.

EDIT: It's been over 30 hours since last charge and xbox controller still shows 3 bars.

I have 6 gp recyko batteries and a quick charger. Takes around 2 hours to charge my batteries and they last ages. Much better than the play and charge kits.

Have you got the orange ones? They're utter crap. You can still get the red ones - I get them on ebay for a decent price.

I wasn't aware of the orange ones, a further downgrade then. I have the Mk1

Which seem to have the highest voltage once its settled after a charge and over the next week on the shelf. The rest are Red Mk2.

I have both eneloop and the uniross ones pictured above by finite

I honestly can't tell the difference they are both good and much better than normal rechargeables
they both hold charge for months and they both keep my fuji 9600 bridge camera running just as good as each other ( it takes lots of juice)

I can't say what one is better than the other as they both just do the same thing lol
given the price you can most likely get 8 Uniross AA for the price of 4 Eneloop
