Hi,

Just been doing my first PC build in 10 years and a bit stumped about which PSU connection to use with my Pulse 9070XT. I'm pairing it with a RM850E which only has space for 3 PCIE/CPU ports on the PSU, two of which are taken by the CPU and the third by my H100I Icuehub LCD cooler.

There's a cable that connects into the 12v2x6 and then splits off into two 6+2 PCIE cables. Am i correct in assuming this is fine for the card?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forums.

Is this your PSU?

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £103.94 (includes delivery: £3.99)

If so then yes i think that is the intended use for that cable. (but only if the above is your PSU)

Thanks for the welcome. Yes that's the psu I'm using, I thought it was but didn't want to risk it without checking first. Thanks for confirming!

Just so you know, i am only going by what was said on that reddit post. There are so many cable differences with Corsair PSU's.

I do not know for definite, but hope someone like @Tetras can confirm

Yeah, you're right, PSUs are increasingly coming with this cable rather than providing more CPU/PCIE ports on the modular panel. I personally hate these cables, but if the OP doesn't have any choice then it can't be helped.

It saves money but does make the old should blades itch thinking about still having the failure of a connector around in an unmonitored/balanced environment. The 9070XT is at least not super power hungry for the spec but i'd hate going near 450W.

Just an update incase anyone reading this has a similar question to me and hasn't found the answer:

The uk version of the rm850e (2025) only comes with 3 pcie 8, but a wire is provided to convert the 12v to dual 8 pcie. I ran that to my 9070xt and its been fine without any issues. Thanks for the replies.

Just need to figure out why my 9800x3d is running at 95c anytime its under load now

Repaste/check bios is up to date.

Yeah got some proper paste on order from amazon and will reseat the cooler. Pretty sure 65c idle and 95c immediately under load isnt normal for the chip. Will try that and then some undervolting if it doesn't work.
Update: was an improperly installed cooler. One of the brackets wasn't tightened correctly and pre-applied paste hadn't sealed properly as a result. Rookie mistake
