Sapiens! (awesome launcher)

Seems like more hassle for me..

Just watched the demo and their easy way to open a file was to "drag the file, move it around in a circle, and then drop it onto the desired opening application.

Can't see how that's easier or a better way to open a file rather than the traditional double click?

Doesn't strike me as visually pleasing either tbh.

Top marks for effort though :p

Truth but imagine if there is an Apple MacBook tablet, how cool would this be?

Why would you want to do all that when you can already simply drag and drop the file onto the app you want to open it, without any extra software, as OS X already supports it.

That seems to be the point he was trying to make.

I would forget quicksilver, but it doesn't look like Sapiens indexes my ma.gnolia bookmarks, allows me to resize images, gives me access to the menu bar in every application, uploads images to flickr, lets me run commands in the terminal, add iCal events, change tracks on iTunes, upload files using transmit and allow me to assign keyboard shortcuts to all of the above so I don't have to move my hands too far when typing and that's just what I use it for.

People tend to forget that Quicksilver is way more than just an application launcher.

edit: just read the description of the product and their justification for this gimmick is pretty transparent - "we think using the keyboard is so 80s" - I wonder if the keyboard has stood the test of time because it's so suitable for purpose. Like all you do if you can is sit at your computer messing about with your mouse! Ridicularse.

I haven't used Quicksilver for ages. I have abandoned my whole minimalist Mac experience. I just can't help myself playing with the toys though. :)

In all seriousness Sapiens is not a lot of good at the moment but, as others have said, IF we ever get the chance to get our sticky paws on a touchscreen/tablet Mac its abilities will be invaluable. Another excellent app, Circusponies Notebook, have announced tablet support and handwriting recognition for their next release so I taste something in the water on the tablet front.
