Hi all,

I'm having a strange issue with my 9070xt, I'm getting random hard resets during games, as if someone has pressed the reset button on the PC.
I thought it might be a power issue so replaced the aging Corsair 850w with a new Corsair RMx 1200 Shift, that didnt solve the problem, I turned off Expo (G.skill Trident Neo 32Gb kit) on my ram settings in Bios, forced the PCIE to 4th gen, tried using only 1 ram stick, then the other to no avail.
I've also tried every driver versions from the cards release to now, Bios is the latest (Asus B650e-f running 3222) the chipset drivers are upto date.

In adrenaline settings I've tried setting various negative clock values ranging from -50 to -500, again same issue.

The strange thing is it passes the stress test in Adrenaline, all the OCCT stress tests, and runs the Heaven benchmark without rebooting, boot up the Division 2, Roadcraft or even Barotrauma and between 10 minuntes and an hour, the PC resets, nothing in event log except that the previous shutdown was unexpected.

I've put a webticket in with Overclockers, but posting here to see if anyone else has any suggestions or solutions.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Edit: The drivers were all removed using DDU being installation, I put my old Rx6700xt back in the machine and everything runs fine, unfortunatly I dont have another machine I can test the card in.

have you overclocked or undervolted it or is it still doing this at stock settings

I had similar issues in the part lock up and sometimes reboot one was a failing m.2 drive and the other was bios and memory related which was weird but once sorted it never happened again

also did you try a fresh instal of windows on a spare drive ?

Get it replaced, failing it being an incorrect install of the card it sounds like faulty hardware, possibly a short causing hardware reset, I wouldn't want it in my machine for long.

This is all happening at stock settings, I have tried a fresh install on a spare drive, both Windows 10 and 11, I've removed my m.2 and just running on a EVo970 SSD.

I wish I could get it to happen on a reliable basis, running HWinfo while gaming, checked the logs after reboot and there wasn't any spikes anywhere, at first I thought it must be driver related with it being a new card, but I'm starting to wonder if its a hardware issue, I've seen similiar reported with the Hellhound cards but not with the Sapphires.

sounds like a overheat issue to me, the card passes benchmarking tests, which if it was a hardware issue would show up straight away, the load in those situations is much higher than gaming, possible that the cpu is getting too hot which is forcing a shutdown to prevent damage?

also important to check is that your using 3 separate 8 pin pcie cables from the psu to the card, the pulse has 3 plugs and using a pigtail cable isn't ideal

Long shot, might be worth trying a driver only install of the AMD gfx driver if you haven't already to see if any of adrenaline suite is causing it.

I have a different model (Reaper at stock clocks) but a couple of days ago while playing Doom my system did a reset like yours did but not done it since. It was such a quick off and on tho.. very odd

Hi again,

Just to answer the more recent posts, I have tried a driver only install with the same results, looking at the log from HWInfo it got to 59' on the GPU with a hotspot temp of 80' which isnt ideal, but from what I've read is pretty typical, I have tried a more aggressive fan curve as I read there may be an issue with the fans spinning up too late causing the memory junction to spike, even though from what I read that mainly caused the green lines/screeen blackout for a few seconds rather than a full system reboot.

The card I have only has 2 8pin connectors, and both a plugged into seperate cables, I even tried the two spare cables I had when using the 1200watt PSU to make sure there wasn't an issue there.

I'm waiting on Overclockers to respond to the ticket to see how to proceed, I really like the card, and hope it can be resolved.

Thanks everyone for suggestions though! if I find anything that works I'll be sure to update the thread :)
