Hey guys,

I'm almost 100% that my 2900XT is faulty (just over a year old), I keep getting the atikmdag crash/bsod etc and I now think its time to kick off the rma process.

I've looked on the Sapphire site and it seems I'm still covered by their 2 year warranty, although they want you to go through the retailer you bought the equipment from.

Anyone had experience of Sapphire rma? Is it quick etc. For the short-term absence of a reasonably high powered card, I've bought a £20 8400GS to tide me over :p

If I get a new/refurbished 2900XT back, I'll probably put it straight on the Bay and get a 4850/4870.

i rma my 1650pro months ago with sapphire via the etailer i bought it and it has taken them around 4 weeks to provide a replacement.

Oh no :(

Good job I've got a temporary card lined up then... Do you think your delay was down to the eTailor or Sapphire? I've had direct swap outs before from this particular merchant and they've usually been pretty good ;)

Can I ask, did you get a new or refurbished card?

In cases where the retailer you purchased the card from is no longer trading they will RMA direct. Not sure if they do like for like always or give you something of equal or greater spec but the last one my mate did was 7-10 days iirc once they agreed to do the RMA, he got the same spec of card back the first time and something slightly better the seccond time (stock issue ?).
 
Sapphire RMA = 28 working days IE 6 weeks. Thats what they told me, and thats exactly how long it took. And also why I no longer buy Sapphire gear

for the record I RMA'd a faulty 2900 and got a recon 2900 back. They prolly have loads of them as many were returned iirc

Sapphire usually take quite a while to do the RMA's but atleast they get you sorted out.

Also if you do get another 2900, you can easily sell it off like you plan.

Some people might still buy them.
 
Just checked with him, it was 10 working days from when they got it till the point they dispatched it but he got a 2900XT as opposed to a 2900 Pro. Some people would argue that it was only a branding change as the Pro was in fact an XT under clocked but hey ho.
 
the delay according to the etailer was due to sapphire so after 3 weeks of waiting i just bought a replacement and then when the replacement came i just bay it.i even made a few quid some noobie bought it:D
 
My eTaylor's online rma process doesn't allow for the returning of my card :(

It doesn't really give a coherent reason?
