Hello guys.

I have a problem with my X1950 Pro, I accidentally snapped a little circle object off it (don't know the proper word). I didn't try the card after I did that because I didn't want risk damaging my AGP slot.

I have included an image of my card, I've circled the area where the said object was snapped off.

I'm wondering if it's safe to put the card back in the PC even though the object has been removed?

Is it possible to repair?

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks.

Yup that's a good picture. If you compare pictures you will be able to see.

I'm wondering if I could just buy another one of these 'objects' and solder it back onto the card?

I think you could just solder the part back on but you'd have to make sure you get the exact part. Have you still not got the old part?.

I'm a chancer and would put it in my system but then I don't care until something happens. I don't worry for risk so don't taker my advice :).

Looks like a capacitor of some sort, if you still have the old part, as said above you should be able to solder it back on, otherwise try and do a bit of research to see if you can find the part description.

I put it in the bin! If I'd have knows I'd have kept it. :(

just put it in and try it, your computer wont blow up lol. It will either work, or it wont. Chances are it will still work.

I agree, try it. I knocked not one but two capacitors off my old Radeon X800 :o

Tried it anyway and it worked flawlessly.

I knocked a Capacitor off my 7900 and soldered it back on.

Worked absolutely fine. I did find out afterwards though that it was for the HDMI part of the card and I never used it so it would not have made any difference if I had not soldered it back on.

highly unlikely, if the card is faulty, it will simply not work. I cant see it damaging your board.

Hello again guys.

I decided to try the card again this morning. The first game I tested with the card was TDU and it ran at 31FPS when I've had the game running at 60FPS on exactly the same PC.

I ran 3DMARK05 and it bought me back with these scores, are these scores about right : 9875.

The specs to the PC are : C2D E4600 @ 2.4Ghz stock. 2GB DDR1 Ram. X1950 Pro.

Cheers
