sapphire 1950 pro 512mb 2 days old getting black screens come up during some games im quite convinced its my corsair 520hx not sufficient enough for this card.Although it's 40a on the 12v rail this card requires 34a right?

it's definitely not your psu causing the problem (unless that itself is faulty).... :p

you can run any single card off that psu so an x1950pro is no bother for it at all. :)

oh and i've had the same psu and a 512mb sapphire 1950pro card running pretty much 24/7 since january. hasn't missed a beat in all that time. :)

a quote from a mod oon the sapphire forum:
Just goes to show what you know - Corsair, made by Seasonic - BOTH makes have been seen here to NOT handle the high-end cards, and funnily enough, the most prevelant models that can't are the 620W units. I wouldn't get dragged into a debate about PSUs and what we know about them here, you'll get pwned .. we've been doing this for years most of us .. and I spent a good 5-6months researching PSUs for the lists of units capable of running these cards.

Both Corsair / Seasonics 500-600w units fail for the most part running these cards, why - because they're garbage .. tried, tested and failed - and it wasn't just me that did the tests either. Search the forums for Corsair HX or Seasonic S/M users that eventually swapped to BETTER BRANDS and found that all their problems went away !!

Nothing wrong at all with the PRO series of that card .. there were a few that were prone to the VRMs getting too hot, but that said, I built several rigs with ADEQUATE airflow using the 1st revision cards and ALL the rigs still work perfectly .. user mikek75 has a first revision board aswell, and his runs OK aswell .. same for a few others here.

Well i am rmaing it it's not fit for purpose if it overheats in an akasa eclipse case
with 2x akasa amber 120mm and it's cold outside at the moment.
Dont know about load temps but idle it is 43 c.
Anyway will never be buying anything by sapphire ever again
sticking to bfg have an 8800 gts arriving tomorrow.

what a load of cobblers. i'm hoping that mod doesn't actually work for sapphire. pretty disgraceful if he/she does......

corsair are relatively new to market admittedly, but they're made by seasonic and they are one of the most trusted/reliable brands around. :)

Crikey. It's not the sapphire x1950pros that are to blame it's the most highly rated power supply of recent times? A hx620w that can power a water-cooled system with quad-core + sli'd 8800gtx's is insufficient for a single x1950pro?

"I wouldn't get dragged into a debate about PSUs and what we know about them here, you'll get pwned"

The guy sounds like a real authority on the matter!

i've just seen c64's thread on the sapphire forums. i remember that idiot of a mod when i posted a few times back when i first got my card. :p

edit: i've just been re-reading some old threads i posted in there and the same mod also thinks asus mobos suck. he gave that as a reason why someone's card was not working. say no more..... :)

I'm pretty sure it's the card design / manu fault there's no heatsinks on the vr area seems to overheat very quickly. The sapphire forum seems to have a lot of members with similar issues with the card and have made homemade heatsink solutions which quite frankly in this day and age should not be necessary if you aren't overclocking it.
I think i will be sent back the card saying nothing wrong with it as i am sure
whoever tests them doesn't sit down and play a few games for a while
to test it let alone run it inside a case.Nevermind chalk this one down to experience 8800 gts tomorrow.

sorry to hi-jack this thread but i felt i'd make myself more unpopular by starting yet another X1950pro thread......i've just ordered the AGP 512mb version of the card but am getting concerned about the PSU ratings i've seen posted around! In one thread i saw someone recommend at least 30A on the 12v rail  but looking at my PSU, i have 18A on the +12v rail, looking at the table printed on the PSU.
The PSU is a thermaltake purepower 480W (model:- purepower 480APD) which is currently powering a 6800GT, 2x36Gb raptors, 1x250Gb hdd, 1 Xfi card a P4 3.2ghz northwood, 1 gb of ram (though have ordered 2gb to be installed) as well as a joystick and a pda cradle (not always in use). Can anyone give me any more info if this PSU will suffice ? I've used the PSU calculator site and it came up with around 350w maximum draw but all this chat of 30A on the 12v rail is starting to unnerve me a little ;)

Thanks again in advance.
