ive mentioned a thread about this before but cant remember when it was but now ive seen lots of toxic replacements in stock cus my toxic is broke, the memory is screwed... being forced to play with artifacting or a big square of colours in the middle of the screen... anyway bin thinking

The sapphy 290 is £320 atm toxic is £281... would the performance go up by a lot? i dont mind running the fan at 60,70, 80% cus my sound is that loud it drown it out anyway, also with the BF4 game included saves money so which would you guys say?

I dont want be without a computer while it RMA's so was going take it back get a refund on the card but buy a new one of something say tomorrow so would like your opinions pls :d
 
Personally I wouldn't get any card with a loud cooler.

I would go for a custom 280x or 780 or 7990.

I think £290 is too much for a toxic especially since it doesn't come with games and all the other 280x come with bf4
 
If noise is not a problem for you, the performance is there for the 290 and if the 290 and 780 were equal with noise and heat I would prefer the 290 due to AMD not skimping with the memory bus and frame buffer but still being cheaper. Add the extra ROP's and when you crank up the resolutions the 290 starts to pull away from the 780.

The difference won't be night and day from the 280X to the 290, around 10fps and you should see higher minimum fps.
