Any clear winners in this price bracket?

Ideally I want:

Nice big screen
Responsive
Fast
Accurate (obviously)
Easily updated

Why would you spend £250 on a satnav? What phone have you got?

I'm not using my phone and I don't need to spend 250 - up to.

Would say tomtom here. Sure is most accurate leading sat nav out there.

I've got a new job that involves a lot of driving and bought a Tom Tom Via Live 120 off eBay, brand new for £125 about two weeks ago. Been using it practically daily and it's very good. The HD Traffic works excellently.
