Hi. Of to Minorca in a week

I have a iPhone 6s.
Hiring a car whilst there. Is there any sat navs I can use whilst I am there that will NOT incur any data charge?

Just wasn't sure how 'maps' or 'Google maps' worked regarding data

My old skool Tom Tom only has uk and Ireland maps

Thank you

Navfree or Here Maps would be a couple of options (if available for iOS).

Most nav apps have something live going on these days (traffic, cameras, sending your location back to a traffic service for incorporation in traffic data). Just go for one where you can download maps and then ensure mobile data (or data roaming - not sure how it works on iOS) is turned off in the the phone.

My personal favourite navigation app (on Android) is also available for iOS with a free, fully functional worldwide 30 day trial. It's called Route 66 Navigate and uses Tomtom maps, traffic data and speed camera data (as does Sygic but IMO the routing and traffic implementation is far better on R66). Admittedly most of the reason it's my favouite is the online services but you can use them in the UK. Make sure to download the relevant map over wi-fi before you go and turn off mobile data when using it. I'd suggest giving it a try and if you like it you could always pay for it after the 30 days are up but then you pay separately for navigation, traffic and speed cameras on a per-country or region basis.

I've not used the iOS version of R66 but I recommended it to my sister and she's been very pleased with it.

Here+ got me around a very large portion of Europe! No data signal needed, I just downloaded the regions/country's I was visiting and drove off!!!

Granted I'm on Windows 10 Mobile so it just works! dunno about the iOS or Android versions!

update on this.

I used the free Sygic GPS Sat Nav whilst in Menorca. You download the maps you need for the country you need (visiting)

Anyhow, it was spot on, perfect. did not use any data as i had it turned of anyhow.

Could even add 'favourites' which was great when i parked in busy areas and would have been unsure where i left the hire car.

Spot on, its free.

So there you go, Maybe useful for other people out there at some point.
