Hey,

Having some trouble with our 5 year old Tom Tom not picking up satellites either very quickly (or at all today!) and generally becoming slower and somewhat useless without a permanent power source.

Looking to replace it with a newer model and take advantage of a £20 off Tom Tom devices voucher that I have and haven't really a clue about Sat Navs any more!

Is Tom Tom still the way to go or is Garmin better?

The device usually gets fairly light use and is mostly used for holidays etc.

So yeah....HALP! :D

Thanks :)

For use in multiple cars - parents currently have a Citroen C4 and I drive a Mondeo Mk3 with the heated screen.

Couldn't get a signal lock outside the cars either :(

I just bought a TomTom Start 25, 5" screen, 4gb internal, microsd, European map. I bought it after getting fed up of using phone apps. Cost £130. Am happy with it.

edit; just to add - it's being used in a Renault Clio that has an athermic windscreen and it has no trouble getting a quick lock.

I would definitely recommend Tomtom units over Garmins. The interface is 200% better*

I have a Tomtom Go Live 820 and it's excellent.

* - according to tests conducted by myself in highly scientific environments. I.e. my car.
