Random thread. Struggling to find a shop to replace an lcd sat nav screen anywhere near me. The courier send away jobbies want £50 to change the screen on it, but I could buy a new one for £80. Don't know whether to bother. I'd do it myself, but it seems to be one of the sealed ones with no screws, can't seem to work out how to dismantle it. :/

Edit :- Seems to be no youtube etc video showing how to dismantle this one, strange really.

i fix them
My advice:
Consider price of part
Check on different websites the part price and usually a 15 pounds fee is sufficient to replace it
If you want to replace it yourself and are ok with taking the risk of breaking the unite
First take it apart check if the unit is still working that you have not damaged something
And only then order replacement part
You can use the information of the lcd to double check if you found the right part, if present
Finding a local shop should be easiest postage adds up

What type of sat nav is it and how old is it? It might be cheaper in the long run to just buy a new one if it was cheap as chips to begin with, you can get them new for £65 from the likes of argos, most likely cheaper if you look around.
