ok in the market for a sat nav and narrowed it down to two.
1. Sony NVX-P1
2. TomTom 700

which is the better one and why..............

Planning to drive to south of FRance and need something that is going to work

Thanks for the input.

Don't know what the Sony is like- Tom Tom is excellent. I have seen other systems in action such as Garmin and Navman. These are nowhere near the quality of tomtom.

I disagree highly. The new Garmin Nuvi units are fantastic.

Fair play, the Garmin unit I saw in action defo was not the one that you are praising so I can't really comment... :)

my tom tom came with European maps. You have to load them onto a big memory card tho (I have the PDA version)

My only experience is of TomTom. However, I use it most days for work and it never lets me down. It also comes with Maps of Western Europe, which are the main roads in Europe. It guide me down to the South of France with no problems, I had so much trust in it I didn't bother packing a paper map.

I think you'll find the TomTom One has got Bluetooth, mine has and it is an excellent bit of kit, glad I didn't choose anything else :D

Stu
It does, yes, but only for downloading things. The 700 lets you use it as a Bluetooth handsfree kit.

I've only tried TomTom and Navman and out of them two I'd definitely go for TomTom.

On Saturday night I was playing with my mates Navman and tried 3 different addresses, it couldn't find 2 of them and sent me 20 miles in the wrong direction for the other one. (it thought a Bath postcode was in Bristol)
