Looking to get one, don't know much about them really. I need european mapping as well as UK, do I need to get one that has this already or are others upgradeable? Is there normally a subscription charge or charge for database updates? Any brands I should avoid? Any help would be great!

I bought a TomTom Go 530 a while back and it does a good job. It came with UK maps and I would have to buy the European maps separately.

TomTom make good sat navs.

Cool, I'll look into that one then. Anyone know anything about subscriptions etc? If subscription is needed and you don't pay, what happens? Is that when they direct cars into narrow footpaths and deep fords? :D

Hi m8

Just get a tomtom, ive used them all through work and i think there the best :) Just make sure you buy one with the european maps ..... Theres no subscripton for the maps but i think if you want to can pay for updates and stuff

I've just been given a TomTom One IQ Routes and it works very well. This particular one only has UK & Ireland but I can vouch for TomTom SatNavs.
