Hello Overclockers,

Since I now have my new build PC working thanks to many of the members on here I am now looking to buy some additional kit.

In terms of sata cables, what are the best ones to buy. I refer to access speed etc to allow good overall performance.

On top of that I am looking to replace my hdd but I want a reliable hdd that is suitably fast. I understand that a HDD with a 16mb cache is good. Does anyone have some recommendations on that and perhaps a recommendation on brand. Personally I have always put my faith in Seagate and never been let down. I cannot say the same for Maxtor tho, 4 dead drives later :( However my seagate drives, still going strong. However they are ide and I dont feel that it is appropriate anymore. I want something better.

As ever all comments and advise welcome.

Cheers buddies.

Some nice WD 32mb drives available now. I would recommend them.

1TB WD 32mb Cache is £57.99 from OC

In reg's to SATA cables, I was under the impression they were all the same in terms of access speeds etc. I thought the mobo or HD was the limiting factor, not the cable. I could be wrong :)

Perhaps I am mistaken about the sata cables. I thought they had different twisted cores or something. For example : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-054-GE

Thanks for the advise on the HDD. I will go look at your suggested product :)

I thought the 'twisted pairs' are to reduce interference etc... i think the marketing blurb on that cable says 'high impedance insulation'. I would assume that any SATA cable would give good HD acess performance regardless.

Im defo no expert on this. On my own system builds I never give the cable quailty a thought if im honest! :)
