SATA Controller

So i have an 1156 board obviously with a 1st gen core i* CPU,
I want to upgrade to 1155, and a board with SATA III.
My question to you all is: Will running a non 'K' CPU limit the SATA speeds or is that solely down to the SATA controller of the board?

It's the SATA controller on the motherboard that determines what speed (and obviously the drive itself).
