Hi all,
I seem to be going round in circles when it comes to maxing out my OCZ Vertex3 120gb.
So many conflicting views about the JMicron and Marvell controllers beign pants for Sata3 contollers and SSD drives.

My current setup (see sig) with X58 chipset doesn't get close to exploiting the Vertex3 to its max. Most folks seem to think its due to the Marvel controller. I've tried different driver versions AND tried different combos of IDE and AHCI, atto tune averages about 330MBps for reads and less around 180MBps on writes.

So, been looking at P67 and Z68 chipset boards from Asus and Gigabyte. Yet they both seem to use Marvell controllers for the sata3 ports.

All that said, if you wanted to max out a vertex3 what board would you buy, coupled with a i7 2600?
been thinking of THIS bundle, but am happy to look at others. I prefer Asus or Gigabyte as i've always liked their quality.
Maybe the Asus P8Z68 or the P8P67?
Not sure i'd take advantage of a Z68 board tbh, SSD caching is just, meh!

I've read most of the 'Vertex3' thread on here, but its getting too long and convoluated to glean any sense out of it now.

Your opinions are most welcome, thanks. :)

the p67 etc do use a marvell controller for two of the sata 3.0 ports, but they also have an Intel controller on which are the good ones :D

Get an MSI/Asus/Giga P67 unless you want some quicksync stuff in which case get a z68

On which board(s) would you find the intel controller then please, as i haven't found any yet.
The board i'm hanging my nose over is the Asus P8P67 Pro, but Marvell controll the sata3 ports and JMicron controll the sata2 ports.

edit: ooop....my bad, looks like the P8P67 DOES use intel chipset for the grey sata3 controllers.
