SATA Degradation on P8P67 release 1

Hi All

I'm running a P8P67 (release 1) board with 4 Samsung SpinPoint drives. I use the system for web development and have the drives setup as follows:

1x 1TB System Volume - SATA6G_1
1x 1TB Backup Volume - SATA6G_2
2x 500GB Scratch Volume (RAID 0) - SATA3G_3 and 4

I'm having a problem with the RAID 0 Scratch Volume which I use for Photoshop. Bascially it's intermittently dropping out causing Photoshop and various windows apps to hang.

Intel Rapid Storage reports the disk as failed, volume appears inaccessible and both drives show as failed on a restart. I have run HD Tune and get transfer rates of between 0.0 MB/sec (when it drops out) to 258.9 MB/sec.

So my question is, could this be due to SATA degradation? If so is there a sure fire way to confirm this before buying new hardware?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

If the SATA 2 ports are failing then eventually you'll lose them altogether. Complete failure may be imminent.

The only "fix" in the meantime would be to transfer the RAID drives to the Intel SATA 3 ports and the other 2 HDD's to the Marvell SATA 3 ports.

Ultimately if you want working SATA 2 ports you'll have to RMA the board.

I hate to say it but you should have exchanged the motherboard when you had the chance. The downtime would have been days rather than now potentially weeks.
