i've had a good look round, and cant find the answer to my question, so hope this isnt a pointless question

in the bios you have the option to change how the SATA disk appears to the OS.

I currently have my SATA disks set to IDE. so they install no problem.

Will this adversely effect the performance ? if so what should i be setting them to ?

i did try changing it but the O/S blue screened when i attempted to boot.

I'm pretty sure that it makes no difference in performance terms, all the setting is doing is 'fooling' Windows into recognising the drive, not actually affecting the speed at a hardware level and even if it were the difference between SATA and IDE is pretty minor for most purposes. :)
