SATA Drive Not being recognised....HELP!!!!

hi all

my SATA hard drive is not being recognised....

am i right in thinking that i only need to put the SATA cable in the back and into port SATA 1 on the motherboard....

Maxtor 200GB

BIOS settings are default....i checked the onboard PCI check is enabled....

was working before....my IDE hard drive is working....i take that out try the SATA and nothing....

its also picking up my athlon 3200+ as a 2500+????....

will have a look at the settings for the CPU....but was unaware of the seperate SATA settings in the BIOS....

if anyone could shed any light on this would be greatful....

BIOS has never been updated....one area where i am a n00b....dont really understand it....

i am a n00b and i am not....

i have built loads of PCs etc....but dont know the "ins and outs" when things go wrong....if you know what i mean....

its the PSU as i have changed the PSU so this is a generic one (for the mrs ;) ) WITHOUT the SATA connector and am using the Antec Truepower 480w for my new build gaming PC (3700+SD, X1800XT etc)....
