SATA drives on Dell Inspiron 1720

I'm a bit puzzled.. I have removed a failed 160GB SATA hard drive from the said laptop but it's power/interface connector look a bit strange and don't look like the normal "L" pins.

These sort of snap downwards..

Are all laptop SATA hard drives standard?

Dunno, but if it's any consolation I just dropped a WD 320gb Scorpio into a 1520 and it went straight in.

I'm wondering if the picture of the SATA 2.5 drive shown here:

Is actually a 2.5 SATA drive?

If I remember correctly you need an adaptor for the 1720.

It is a SATA drive but there is an adaptor that fits over the standard connector.

Remove it from the old drive.
