i bought a 750gb samsung sata hdd new but its not detected not even in bios.

Power is all good hooked it up to the sata port 1 and nothing, windows takes longer in the bios to load but failes to see the hdd. i have tried on another pc with a working sata drive and that failed to see it as well and struggled in bios to see it but doesn't, the hdd doesn't spin up as i can#t here or feel anything but gets warm after a few minutes.

my specs are
amd 64 x2 6000+
4gb ram
512mb pci-e 3950 ati gfx card
m2r32-mvp asus mobo
jeantech 750 watt power supply.

any help would be great.

Try plugging it into the actual cable and port that you know works on the other PC. If you've still having no luck, might well be faulty.

Well the manual for that board is about as much use as a chocolate teapot, there's no documentation for the BIOS at all.

Have you confirmed that the SATA ports are enabled?

Does the BIOS give you an option to run them in an IDE emulation or legacy mode?

I have hooked it up on the actual port and had it setup so that the samung drive was hooked up like the maxtor on the other pc i.e drives jsut swapped and no detetcion jsut some struggling in bios (both pc's struggle with the drive hooked up during detection)

I hooked up the working maxtor on the pc its meant to be going in adn worked fine, no settings changed just showed up in bios without any complaints or drivers.I reckon drive is faulty.

thanks for the help, if you could recommned

the maxtor is Maxtor STM3250310AS 250GB SATAII 8MB Cache - OEM
and the samung is (faulty drive) Samsung HD753LJ 750GB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm *32MB Cache* - OEM
