SATA or IDE?

SATA. The only reason I have IDE in my system is that my faithful old DVDRW is still going strong.

Makes no difference for an optical drive, both SATA and IDE have more bandwidth than a DVD writer can use.

Yeah both SATA and IDE have higher bandwidth than the DVD drive...so you are not losing performance either way...just depends on whether you want an IDE cable inside your case!? Only possible plus I can think of for keeping the IDE would be to free up some sata ports for RAID? New build = go SATA!

yeap, i use an ide dvd drive, and ill buy ide again. it saves sata slots for my hdds.
