Are sata pci cards worth the hassle? My sons pc hasnt got any sata ports so I bought one of these cards off the bay recently, it arrived tuesday so I installed it and gave my son two 120gb maxtor dm9's
Getting the sata drivers on has been a pita from the word go and now I have a major problem with his machine. It goes awol with video corruption and windows is always doing a scandisk on at least one partition from cold boot (proper shutdown and restart too)
Anything to do with editing raw mpeg2 video and it bawks at it, screwing up video frames randomly. This didnt happen from the start and seems to have came about this evening, I have wiped the system and put on a fresh install of xp which hasnt solved the problem...
Could this be the sata card and its cheapy nastyness? This card wouldnt work at all in one pci slot until I moved it up one so any confidence was soon thrown out the window lol
This card is an Intitio INIC-1622Ta2 (sata & raid)
Are there any good sata cards out there worth getting? Or should I just kick his motherboard out and buy one thats more up to date, his board is an ECS L7VTA v1.1 socket a
