Hello.

Spent 4 hours today building my pc into a small form case with a new motherboard. I tried putting the CD drive in and its taken one of the ports of the motherboard.

The PC still worked but an hour later I restarted the machine and it won't boot up at all now.

Any suggestions? Would the broken SATA port cause this?

Thanks

By not boot up, what do you mean?

No life at all?

No fans spin up?

Gets stuck on the POST screen?

Nothing at all. As if the power isn't plugged in but ive tested the power cable and it isn't that. Its either the motherboard or the new case purchased as the the other components are back in the old case and working fine.

Ive spent so long on it today and pretty much wasted a day so ive given up for now. lol.

Power button connected on the board correctly?

Try shorting the two pins on the motherboard front panel header with a screwdriver.

Will try that tomorrow as I have to take all the components out again and build the new case up again.

The button does seem a little dodgy as it doesn't always click when I press it.

I did check the power button connect on the motherboard and that didn't sort it.

All sorted :)

I managed to get it to turn on by shorting the 2 pins on the motherboard.

Checked the power button over and re-fitted it.

All is good :)

Just have a few teething problems with the SSD I have but thats for another thread
