SATA Power Cable question

may sound stupid but on PSU's that support SATA they have an extra cable (Orange on Enermax) What is this for?

Can you describe the pins coming from the lead? My PSU supports SATA drives(or at least has the connectors) but I can't recall an orange lead on its own.

Yes, PSUs with native SATA support have a 5th orange wire - this is a 3.3 volt line. Desktop drives don't require it, but I believe the 2.5 inch laptop SATA drives do.
