Right so I was in a hurry ok. I dont usually buy stuff at shops but this time I did. I got myself a 2x sata-ii pci-e card from a highstreet store with the sole intention of plugging in 2 sata drives and forgetting about them.

Some background:
Initially I had a highstreet store 1 port sataii pci-e card with HD A plugged in to it, no problems.
Today got this 2 port sata 2 card (ST-Lab A-341) and plugged it in. Got in to windows and installed drivers, no problems.
Plugged in a drive and tried to boot. Right after the cards bios / drive check screen comes up the screen goes black and I get the lovely flashing cursor. Cant type anything no buttons work etc. Basically it gets stuck on boot every time no matter what combination of drives / optical drives I try plugged in, but boots in to windows fine if the card is in but no drives attached.

So I went into its onboard bios to look for solutions. Wiped the new hd (tested it on the motherboard connector to confirm it works fine) , set both drives to JBOD, still no joy.

Does anyone have any experience with this card or any similar errors?

erm you might have to load the cards drivers before the install. because with mine it had a conflict with the on board sata chip....

No joy on that. I finally managed to video phone record what it says after the cards own bios passes. It says "Checking NVRam" then it goes to cursor.
Gonna try flashing the cards bios to latest version

Flashing didnt help. Still boots fine without drives plugged in but stalls if even 1 is plugged. I even checked the boot order to make sure nothing changed.
