Hi i have a A7N8X deluxe motherboard I know its an old board But i just wondered if it would be SATA2 compatible  . I Have SATA1 connectors on the board and red cables in box which i asume connect to SATA1 Drives  .The reason im asking is I want to upgrade the pc But can not afford it all now. So if i upgraded to a SATA2 would it be backward compatible to SATA1 untill i got a new motherboard ect  I have a IDE drive wich i think is 133 ultra dma. So i have never used sata before, PLEASE help thanks :D

Don't buy a maxtor drive (huge compatabilty problems with nforce) and try and find out from somebody (post) what works with your mainboard.
I'm lucky, I got my Maxtor to work with my A8N-sli deluxe eventually!!, but many don't!!. good luck
