SATA3

what motherboard do you have?

havent built a system in a long time but sata3 should be fine, dunno what SSata3 is unless you are referring to sata2?

also make sure you set the sata ports in the bios to ACHI before installing the OS

Not to hijack the thread completely but is the AHCI thing mentioned by ED still something that needs doing?

I installed W10 to a new SSD last night but hadn't seen anything about setting the SATA3 ports to AHCI in the BIOS first. If I should have changed it before installing W10 is it the end of the world? Is there anything I can do retrospectively?

Cheers

It may be the case the board may of Automatically set AHCI, But you could do a reg edit on Windows 7 then restart and enable AHCI in the BIOS.

But check all option in the BIOS to see if this is enabled.

My BIOS has three views which is new to me:

Startup guide - The Integrated SATA Controller here suggests that AHCI was set by default as it's the one already selected out of the 3 options.

Classic mode - under Peripherals \ SATA Configuration the SATA Mode Selection is AHCI

Looks like I'm ok so thanks for the heads up :)
