Banging my head against a brick wall here. received my new router from overclockers today asus dsl-n14u. we have satalite broadband which only has Ethernet cable output . Was using a old bt wifi router before it packed in which connect us to the internet through the Ethernet socket in the router.
Now our new router has exactly the same sockets and once again we plugged the Ethernet cable in to port 1 as before but it wont let us connect , when using the asus router set up wizard it just says cable not connected meaning ths dsl. Never had this trouble with the old bt wifi router .Can any one help.

Return it and buy a 'cable' router with an Ethernet WAN port.

Some routers do support both DSL and Ethernet WAN (often re-tasking one of the LAN ports), but I don't think the one you've bought does.

You do not have DSL, you have Satellite. So you cannot use a DSL Modem/Router.

As posted above, buy a straight forward router. It will have an etherther WAN port that will let you configure static IP/DHCP/PPPoE ot whatever your Satellite provider gives you.

Sorry if it sounds harsh but the clue was in the product name DSL-N14.
The ASUS range start cable style routers with RT-NXXX
