Not well up on Laptops

My Grandaughters Satellite A200-1TO.

This morning this laptop kept switching off.
I tried the usual recovery methods but was unable to get windows to load, not even in safe mode.

I popped in the recovery disk to see if I could repair windows, after mucking around I decided to do a full recovery.
Followed all the instructions, chose to format the whole drive, all seemed to go well until I got to 57% then install failed.

I went through this procedure 5 times, but windows still failed to complete, always got to 57% then was aborted.
The laptop is still under warranty, so will have to phone Tosh, me thinks it could be the HD/Drive or the DVD player.

Any ideas before I phone.

what do you mean by failed? like it freezes or blue screens or do you hear the cd/dvd drive continiously spin but the % bar isnt increasing?

Just get a message on screen telling me install failed, and to retry
Also the hard drive is making a fast clicking sound when the install reaches 57%.

Are there any scratches on the recovery disk?? If the computer is having trouble reading this particular disk, it might be worth asking for a new recovery disk or possibly using another computer to make a copy and see if the copy will work instead.

I'm sure you do but make sure you have the power lead plugged in when you try the reinstall.

Switching off all the time does sound like it could be the hard drive, so yes, I would contact Toshiba as they are usually quite helpful.
