Satellite Party

Anybody heard of this? Its a project put together by Perry Farrell (Jane's Addiction frontman) and includes Nuno Bettencourt on guitar (former Extreme guitarist and personal hero - Nuuuunooooo!) and will feature appearances from other famous musicians such as Flea and Tony Kanal. Perry says:

It's about a collective of artists fine artists, musicians and dancers that do flash mobs, A riot occurs at one of the flash mobs because they're illegal, and the chief musician ends up in the hospital, where he meets the lovely night nurse. He asks for a radio to be brought into the hospital, chats up the nurse, gets a crush on her, and they listen to the radio together. And then one night there's a vast visitation of energy through the radio that is actually a summons to come to the satellite party in the heavens. I want to make it where it's like a dance party and people are participating in the Satellite Party themselves.

First I've heard of this but sounds intriguing. Jane's Addiction are one of my favourite bands and I really like Porno For Pyros too so am looking forward to hearing this.

Just listening to the new record now and it's pretty good, though a little hit and miss. Stand out tracks for me are Wish upon a dog star and Hard life easy - Nuno soloing over a flea slap-bass riff, never thought I'd see the day! :cool:

I'm just not the biggest fan of perry farrell's voice, bit too whiney for my liking. I'd give the record 7/10 if I was being harsh.

I know what you mean about Farrell's voice, I love it but I can see why others might not be so taken.

Saw them at the mean fiddler last night and it was the most awesome gig ever! The whole band rocked so hard, it was Perry going crazy and Nuno soloing left right and centre! We were looking out right over the stage above Nuno and I got a nod and a thumbs up! Perry was
NO SWEARING amazing and even climbed up the speaker stack to high five us all! What a show!

Seeing bands like this really makes it clear just how bad current "rock" bands are in terms of live performance and songwriting. These boys own! One memory to treasure!
