Looking maybe to put together a new HTPC after the PSU in my old one went pop. As a consequence, I'll also have a low profile slot available in a new case so trying to identify a decent quality low profile satellite TV card to fit.

Any recommendations?

I've got a TBS 6981, had it for a couple of years and it's been fine - I think there's a slightly newer model out there now but should be pretty much the same.

Typically a few days later and my TBS card has given up the ghost just as I've order some new guts for the HTPC

I've ordered a DVBSky S952 to try out for now, it was 50 quid so about 30 quid cheaper than the TBS card. Will update once its installed to report if it's a any good or not.

Hi

Just checking on how you have found the card so far.

Thanks

Not had a whole lot of time to use it as I was rebuilding the HTPC this weekend as well, but so far so good. It scans and tunes all the channels (previously I've had USB ones that didn't power the LNB sufficiently to pick up all channels). Channel switching time doesn't seem to be affected, and it has been fine so far.

I've used a few different TV tuning options (I use Argus, but as I was doing a rebuild so I tried out a few others), and they all picked it up ok and tuned channels.

Overall I'd say it was worth saving ~£40 over the equivalent TBS card, but time will tell if it's reliable!
