Satisfactory Alpha release

I've finally gotten around to trying this after only playing for a couple of hours and then getting distracted with DSP.

For those who have played it more than I have, is it worth chasing 100% efficiency at the start?

I built a 100% efficient iron line making plates, bars and screws. However since automating reinforced iron plates and rotors I'm not producing anywhere near enough screws. On the one hand, I'm thinking I should modify, expand and rebuild my production line to get 100%, or closer to it, then modify it further when I unlock new tiers. On the other hand, I think I should just live with the inefficiency for now until I have unlocked more tiers and have a better idea of the production line then rebuild the entire production line.

Umm, for me I would say no. I have built and rebuilt my factory multiple times. If you're going for a clean foundation-based build, you will need a crude setup if you're not manually crafting everything.

I started fresh after the Update 5 and my "new" factory is a state. Floating walls, floating power poles, failed new buildings due to my not giving enough space...
I made a tall structure to place the Space Elevator on. It expanded to a point where it clashes with my iron setup. Then my coal power runs out so I travel all the way over there to sort it. What a chew on

Ideally, you want to produce a surplus, you can save the surplus in storage containers for later production, or sink it for tickets in the awesome shop. There's no real need for 100% efficiency as you can go and grab more nodes of iron etc, later tiers will unlock faster belts that move more items, so your current factory will need expanding/redoing if say you are going for a 100% efficient Mk1 miner supplied iron factory. You also end up overclocking the miners which will mean even bigger factories. So I'd say don't worry about efficiency until late game.

The goal early on is to push for Coal power so you don't have to feed biomass :)

Thanks guys.

I’d like it to be reasonably efficient but I’m not really going for 100% overall, it just easily worked our that way for the plates, bars and screws.

I’ll stick to being horribly innefficient for now and rebuild my factory sometime later.

I don't use many mods for Satisfactory but the belt fed biomass burner is one I could not do without.

I tend to play every few months starting anew each time, and don't worry about efficiency until later tiers.

As I said I push for coal straight away, so it's a bit painful with the biomass, but not that bad

Come back to this after a long time.. loving it.

Redesigned my layout a few times, moved from co-located (miner) burners to a centralised farm of burners and a cable layout that allows for expansion so less spaghetti ha ha.

I try to keep things generic as possible so I can adapt to different recipes but a constant seem to be plate and screw production so they’re maximised.

At the moment I’m feeding the assemblers manually so I can adapt.. hoping I unlock a way to switch inputs so I can automate it going forward.

Holy hell this game drives me mad... I have grand plans only for it to go utter rat **** on me after 5 placements :)

Looks gorgeous, gimmie 50hrs and it will be ruined by foundations at every angle possible apart from the way my mind wants it.

This game recently popped up on my radar again, and after watching a few videos I promptly purchased the game.

I am enjoying it a lot. I have multiple ideas flying around in my head for what I want my HQ to look like. (I may build it around the Space elevator depending on how the clipping works). Will get to work on that once I upgrade my steel foundry to be more efficient.

I like the complexity of build recipes and the increase in difficulty seems to be managed well through the tier system. (Though I have only completed 4 tiers so far). I do feel like the early game is a rush to get to coal, which can feel quite far away.

One thing I'm unsure about is which items are for passing the milestones/sending up the elevator and which items are needed so I can design factories.

The build system works reasonably well, I guess they are building up on their experience from sanctum (Side note I'm sure they have taken the build sound from that game as well).

For an early access game it is in a very good state. I think coffee stain are slowly joining the ranks of my favourite developer/publisher.

i gotit recently, after a long waiting atcing it,i fillytook the plung, and managed to unlock all but the last 2 tiers at the moment. and now i'm looking at them thinking i have to tearing everything down and rebuilding properly instead of being a bit lassy :'(
First playtroug on green fields.
its playing pretty well on my 8year old machine so far i cant really complin!
my only realy complaint so far are TRUCKS and Automated Vehicles need a massive overhaul, is not great or intuitive t me a all!

I'm currently in a dip at the moment. I have coal power and just unlocked oil but my focus has been on setting up an octagonal coal power building with 6 coal generators on each limb of the building. It was fun to start with but now it's getting boring. I need to see it finished though, so will persist.

My issue is that I have moved quite the distance from my original base, moving my hub along as I go. To save me the time and hassle deconstructing everything I uploaded my save to satisfactory-calculator and deleted everything except my new base. It gives "goody bag" crates near player but I reckon I'll still run out of materials.

I'm not too far from iron and copper so it won't be a huge deal, although I'm on the experimental patch and recently all aliens have been respawning and I don't want to run into the four spiders, that came out of nowhere, again.

For anyone considering an octagonal building - be prepared for clipping and graphics flickering. Also have a little think about how your stairs and platforms will work...

The simple fact that they have not rushed to release the game and are still making regular updates to the early access with an awful lot of player feedback really is nice, I'm also a big fan of the way Jace and Snutt (community managers) interact with the community, obviously they are given some direction from the boss or are at least not stopped from their methodology but I appreciate it for sure.

Trucks and tractors are a pita! I pretty much ignore them these days and the only automated transport system I use are the drones once unlocked, I've even stopped using trains which were my go to previously.

Currently working on an aluminium plant to use every bauxite node on the map, the fun bit will be working out how many drone ports I need for maximum throughput but I can at least simply add or remove ports as needed, I have 30 nuclear reactors running along with a reprocessing plant so I can sink the waste and keep it somewhat clean, current capacity is around 91000MW, current max consumption, 39000MW, I love having excess energy :D

Im dumb i just worked out were to get mycelia from.. at least initally, at least i need to go find more other wise buying it in is going to get expensive..

just sorting out my aluminium beginner plant at moment, and hazmat suit.
i'm putting of the redesign a little... and have belts for most part.
but i think trains are next, but they take up so much space :(

You really don't need much, caves are a good source, swamps too, some stuff you can chainsaw will give you it as well, and there is an alternate recipe for fabric that can be attained from drop pods that uses polymer resin left over from oil processing

One of my biggest tips is to stop building compact, spread out in all directions, I always like to build offshore coastal factories, there is an awful lot of space available and trains wont seem to take up so much space once you start building larger :D

just finished unlocked stage 7 today. Nuclear next i guess :/

now need to decied next steps. trains seems a like lot of hassels to set up at least the rails didnt quite work as expected when laying the rails down so lots of leg work to set up. one reason to wait for drones.
next weekends problem!

Dogo farming also.

they really need to fix the offline play also! its getting annoying doing a corps run and remembering were i was!

Don't build a fully self contained 6 (with space for a further 6) reactor nuclear plant at the highest mountain resource for uranium is my top tip, was such a dumb idea ..

I had a grand plan of Dyson sphereing the entire world.

My motto has always been that if water is involved it is built as close as possible to water as it can be, far easier to transport dry products down to sea level than water up.
