I need a Satnav. Never had one before but with work etc it would be handy to have one. Where do i start? Budget, under £100.

It will be used mainly for the UK but wouldn't mind having france on it plus has to have safety (speed) cameras on it too.

Any help or advice on what to go for would be really great. Cheers

But that would require a data package and if you're in an area of no reception your satnav stops working. Nokia phones store the maps on the phone/SD card so would be a better choice if you went down the mobile phone route, but I'd prefer a dedicated satnav if I was going to use it a lot.

I never had any problems when I had a garmin, though it could be a little slow to pick up signal from time to time. Most people seem to recommend Tom Tom. I suppose it's what you get used to.

tomtom start for about £90. It'll be uk and ROI though and not france/europe.

I'm yet to use an easier system than tomtom tbh

I got a 2nd hand RAC 200 from M&M for 45 quid & it's been Brilliant. I think most of them are pretty good these days, I can't fault mine & I've tried to do her head in as well. :p
Nowadays I Trust it totally & just tap in the addy & follow the lovely voice.

I would have to say the tom tom is very easy to use and by far the best sat nav i have used.
Wouldnt use any other one now

Tom Tom by a mile. Anyone saying any different must not have used one. Absolutely the best Sat Nav on the market. So customisable with speed camera alerts, points of interests, etc. Easy to use, lots of nice features (such as lane guidance). I've tried Garmin, etc. in the past and they are awful in comparrison.

Thanks. I will check those out.

Screen looks a little small though. Anything a little bigger but not cost a lot more?

get a HP Ipaq 314 off ebay for ~£40 the built in nav software is crap but you can install whatever software you want on it (I run Igo8), its basically a PDA with gps built in but wide-screen with a 800x480 display, you cant get anything better for <£100
