Saturday Horse Racing Thread

No, not going.
I work in a bookies so I'd never be able to get the time off. Although it's
probably the best place for me to be during the festival. :D
Are you going Jim?
Do you have anything picked out for the Racing Post Chase on Saturday?

lol yes I had a good day :), my judgement has been confirmed as valid :), btw anyone going to Cheltenham?

i should be going this year again been for the last 3/4 years not going on gold cup day this time as everytime i do i lose a terrible amount of money... so going up on the monday night and coming back wednesday.

Hopefully if my mum's fella gets a runner or two which seems likely then might be able to go in the owners and trainers fingers crossed!

Are you going yourself?

I`m DESPERATE to go but I`ve left it late, I have friends who are going but staying in Birmingham Travelodge, I did this last year and whilst ok I think I would rather stay a bit closer. I`ve been touting myself to other friends but no one else wants to go lol, been looking for accomodation but nothing suitable as yet :( . Havent had a look @ RP Chase yet but I will def be having a punt on it.
Last year Weapons Amnesty mitigated my losses lol, I had a huge opinion that Dunguib wouldnt win the Supreme Novices, unfortunately my selection (Get Me Out Of Here) got beat a nose by Menorah which has subsequently proved to be of the highest order:(, aw man it was so disappointing, I was standing in the Tatts @ the last hurdle as GMOOH came to challenge........... if only it had another 100yds............. btw GMOOH has been dreadful this season, its either genuinely lost it OR its a Jonjo plot :), one to keep an eye on imo.

If I manage to get this year it will be for the Tuesday-Thursday, I feel Gold Cup day is too busy. I fell Imperial Commander will again be spot on for the GC btw.

Stat for this is 8 out of 10 have won last time out, careful with stats tho. Nacarat appeals to me at first look, trainer said befoe last race that it was the best he had had it etc, class horse but carries a lot of weight, might not stop it tho, they are hoping for good ground for it. Nothing with a light weight jumps out at me initially, need to do more study

If I had to pick my favourite horse from the field it would be Nacarat, I like his front running style. But I don't think he'll win it. I think I'm going to back Bakbenshcer and Hey Big Spender.
I also thought I'd give Mostly Bob a mention because Gary Nutting from the At The Races website has tipped it up and he's had a few good winners this year.

Mostly Bob tipped in The Weekender too, another statfest........ 9 out of the last 12 winners carried 11st or more...........OR another angle (N Mordin column) horses rated 143 or over and won last time out........ 17 have qualified in the last 11 years... 9 have won........ that one flags up Tatenen and Crescent Island.........just sayin.....

I see Captain Chris running on Sat too, 2nd to Medermit LTO so should give a clue for festival, oh and Get Me Out Of Here gets a write up in Weekender saying it should be noted/considered for festival...........didnt I just say that!

I was going to go for Mostly Bob. Not sure whether its a good sign everyone is backing it, always seems to end badly for me when they do!

It won impressively LTO but does it have the class to win against this competition?..........we`ll find out..... Hobb's other one Quinz is also a contender, then of course there is Fistral Beach, fell in this last year when fav, again not sure if it has enough class.

Tomorrows fancies.......sorry about picking favs but my methods suggest them :), I'm sticking with Nacarat for the big race, might add some more thoughts later if I get time.

1.55 Kempton: Kumbeshwar

2.25 Kempton: Captain Chris (prohibitive odds due to small field so not really a selection)

3.00 Kempton: Nacarat

3.35 Kempton: Toubab

1.55 Kempton - Kumbeshwar - Didn't take to the ground last time out and I think he's better than what we've seen from him so far.

3.00 Kempton - Fistral Beach - Had a breathing operation since he unseated rider in this race last year and it seems to have worked with his win last time out.
Was going to go for Bakbenscher but I don't think the ground will suit, I thought it was going to be heavy but forecast is for good to soft.

3.35 Kempton - Yorgunnabelucky - Big price so I'm only having a wee each way on it. Flat bred horse so a track like Kempton will hopefully suit him.

I like Yourgonnabelucky as well, for me it has a real chance, Fistral Beach needs to be good to win this, it may well be but as yet for me its unproven at this grade, interesting to see if it is gambled tomorrow

erm............ well yes erm ahem............though Nacarat and Giles Cross were both placed, Toubab ran a dreadful race after drifting in the betting, Captain Chris duly obliged @ 2/5 and impressed imho.
