well guys?
apart from the rule 34 baiting, is it worth upgrading to the latest release of ubuntu or is it same old same old?

I'd say same old same old. I still find the server edition buggy compared to 12.04 so it depends on if you want the latest of the latest or if you are happy with a working system.

Good, I thought I was going mad.

Trusty is OK but not a huge leap from Saucy which I was using until recently. Having said that, I only use it headless so wouldn't expect to see a great deal of difference!

I have had Grub issues with TT though which seems to package GRUB 2.02~beta2-9.

Yes, I had that for a while. Apparently it is Samba related. Have you tried the pam-auth-update workaround?

I noticed that samba also throws up a FAIL error at boot and shutdown but it all seems to work fine for me.
