Save As From Adobe Reader & Another Program Is Making the PC Hang

as per title, win10 x64 v1903. when i click the box to save into a folder on the PC the program just hangs and never recovers, I have to manually close it via task manager. Everything else works as expected.

Tried;
Clearing recent file list
sfc
dism
chkdsk

all complete without error

just wondering if there is a wizard lurking somewhere, i really dont want to reinstall the os

Any other storage device connected, like a phone or SD card?

there was a new printer installed around the same time which created a y and z drive for the respective sd card reader and usb but ive deleted them in explorer so im assuming they shouldnt be causing an issue

Only way to be sure is unplug the printer. If the issue is resolved then reconnect the printer and disable the USB hub \ card readers in device manager.

Any networked devices like a NAS or even another PC with shared files? They can wreak absolute havoc.
