Save, don't save, cancel...

So I open preview, edit a file, decide to close preview and click the red traffic light. The drop down comes asking me do I want to save or not and, as I would on windows, I decide to use the arrow keys to navigate the buttons and select the button of my choosing.

Only that doesn't work. Nor does tab. How do I navigate the buttons without using the mouse? I know I can just click the red traffic light and the required button, but I'd have thought the ability to do it via keyboard would be there.

This has bugged me for a long time, too. I did find something that sorted it about 18 months ago, but a few Macs later I lost the source.

"enter" saves it
"escape" cancels it
"cmd+d" doesn't save it then closes

I guess I didn't look properly. Assuming you're on Snow Leopard, here you go:

System Prefs > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts and select All controls.

Tab to switch between the options, space to select.
