may seem like a weird one but now that im back in education it realy sucks doing work at the college and then having to send it home or vice versa and most of the time i forget to send it home which means i have to do it again.

wondering if there is anyway i can just automatically save it online through ms word and then change that to default if possible so that i don't have to email home.

You could just register at one of those online storage websites, then just upload your work at college then just pull it back when you get home. It also acts as a backup as well in case you lost anything.

Never used it myself but there are a few sites out there that offer this service some may give you free storage allowance others may not, anyway google is your buddy.

I doubt you'll be able to save it without having an FTP transaction or soemthing like that. You'd have to mount an online drive, which would probably require software to be installed.

On second thoughts you could invest in a NAS drive, plug it into your home computer and save to it from college tad expensive but it's an idea.

If you have a Hotmail account and MSN or Windows Live Messenger installed, they seem to give you personal storage which you can access on www.msnusers.com - on both my XP notebook, and my PC (when it used to have XP), there was an icon under Network Places with the MSN logo, called personal storage or something. You can use it just like a regular folder/drive, and you can open/save Word documents to it easily.

Probably not hugely helpful since I doubt you'll have that icon available to you on college PCs, but thought I'd mention it.

Could you not just, as a rule, save everything on usb key - thus you have a backup copy on your computer, but you always work off of the copy on the usb stick?

Have a word at college - they might have some web-access to your storage - I know both the uni's I've attended do.

i think the best option then is going to be either remember to send it home, or get a usb stick and save it all onto there as all the other methods require me to either upload or have something installed which we can't

thanks guys for the all the help
