Save or Backup IMAP E-Mails

Hello,
I have recently, in my large computer tidy up, been through thousands and thousands of my email messages and organised them into IMAP folders.

My mail account is with AOL but use Thunderbird to gain access to it.

What's the best way of backing up my IMAP folders so if anything ever went wrong then I could restore them?

Not sure what you mean - if the IMAP server goes down, your client will have a local copy provided you've configured it to sync everything (easy in Thunderbird), and vice versa, so no real need for a backup as such?

Ok, so where is the local copy stored so I can take a manual backup of them?

I only have Thunderbird on my Linux box and I can't remember the exact location in Windows, but MozBackup is probably the easiest method in any case.
