Hi,

We have been checking out our b-grade section and it seems there are a lot of products where people can grab a real bargain as most products just have a damaged box.

All hard drives are products that have been either returned from manufacturer repaired or returned as unwanted after a few minutes of use from customers. All hard drives are in fully working order and formatted of data.

Coolers are a little different than hard drives in that they will all have the mounting parts for the cooler but could have no box/manual or it could just be that the box is damaged. The coolers will have all parts required for you to install and use.

Laptops are mainly unwanted returns and the customer has just changed there mind and decided that they have spent to much money and need it for other things. They all come factory reset and have the power adaptors to use them. The boxes maybe damaged but they are all functional as intended.

Water Cooling clearance is a mixture of both new parts and b-grade. If the item is b-grade it will say in the title. Take a look and you maybe able to combine parts in order to get your PC cool this summer. B-grade items are as normal they will have the parts to mount and fit but may have open packaging or damaged packaging.

reason i ask is, how does the former (returned from manufacturer repaired) affect the manufacturers warranty? does it just continue as normal - i know OcUK only offer 90 days on B-Grade but the manufacturers warranty should still be in place?

Apologies for the delay in reply I'm awaiting confirmation from Seagate. I believe it should be the normal warranty but I would like to give you the correct information. I will get back shortly.

Some decent offers there, but the two Kingstone SSD drives are the same price as retail.

After speaking with Seagate we go the following:

If you RMA and get a refurb you only get the balance of the warranty back.

E.g. RMA within 6 months, get your refurb, 18 months left.

So the hard drives in B-grade has a minimum of 3 months as standard but could have a lot of remaining warranty.

They are going to be a mixture of unwanted returns which will have a decent warranty and warranty repaired sorry we can be much more accurate.

Why say 2 year warranty here when it is only actually 90 days? Nobody will spend £1500 quid for 3 month warranty. Or if they do they're not realizing.

Why do OCUK have so little faith in B grade items? Why does a ripped box for example take the warranty away?

Hi,

At the moment it is a limitation of the system. B-Grade items are checked before they are added to the clearance section. The 3 Month warranty is because we cannot control how long a product will be on the shelf and the warranty may expire. The 3 months warranty is something we cover even if the product is out of it's manufacturer warranty.

MSI laptops that are on B-Grade are sent with a 1 year manufacturer extended warranty so as long as you register the laptop within 28 days of purchase then you get a minimum of 12 months.
