Save the Millers!!

Things look bleak. Shame if you went out of business for a paltry million. You're playing Southend tonight aren't you? Maybe the chairmen will put there heads together and come to a deal. Best of luck. Been to Rotherham and it was a friendly place if a little dilapidated (The ground not the town)

The communication between board and fans is poor. Its their own fault for letting the team finances get in such a state.

How so? The present chairman, Peter Ruchniewicz, and most of the directors are part of the Millers05 syndicate. They are all Rotherham fans and the takeover (from the previous Ken Booth regime) had the clubs interest at heart. They have all ploughed substantial amounts of their own cash into the club, but they took on a sinking ship.

Basically, even though the wage bill of the players has been significantly reduced, we are still losing in the region of £140K per week. This is also compounded by Southend United refusing to pay around £120K for Jamal Campbell Ryce, a deal done prior to his loan spell with the Shrimpers. This is now in the hands of the FA, but RUFC are seeking legal advice. This cash would have kept the revenue man from the door, unfortunately because it didn't appear, we tipped over the edge. Poor performances on the pitch plus dwindling gates (which go hand in hand) are the real problem though.

We had 4 years in the Championship, punching above our weight. That is when we had a real chance to take the club forward, but the previous regime were reluctant to spend. Ronnie Moore did wonders with little to no cash.

We have a new stand nearing completion. With its conference facilities and corporate hospitality opportunities it will mean income into the club all year round, for the very first time, rather than just matchdays. It's all 3 years too late.

The fans are rallying and organising various fund raising events, and what is fantastic is the support from everywhere. Many clubs have had bucket collections, and our illustrious neighbours from Hillsborough and Bramhall Lane have both helped with collections and donations.

We are taking heart from other clubs who have also been in dire straights over the last few years. Oldham, Darlington, Notts County, Partick Thistle, Cambridge and Wrexham are still alive, although their circumstances were each a bit different, it's the passion of the average footie fan across the country that has made the difference.

If you go to a game at the weekend, and you see a collection bucket going around, please chuck in some loose change. Every little helps, there will be no administration, if we go under thats it, we just don't have any assets at all!!

Do you fill the stands you've already got?

No, nowhere near. However, the new stand replaces the old 1930's Community stand where the bulk of season ticket holders have seats. Hopefully, with the improved facilities it may boost sales next season.

Is that the big woodern one, with the away fans stood to the right of it ? That deffinately needed sorted, felt quite unsafe in that when Wednesday used it for the inter-tobob !

Yep, thats the one, it's where most of the season ticket holders have seats. The away supporters are usually in the Railway End is to the right of the new stand when you look out over the pitch.

I think its about time the big Premiership teams sponsor a smaller team in a lower league for exactly this reason.

Interesting idea, however, what would be the return in a deal like that for the big boys. Nothing of any real value, apart from Kudos. No profit, not going to happen.

"Save The Millers"

Thought you meant that family on Albert Square - was about to send you a fiver......or a tenner if Dawn was particularly grateful.

I know a guy that plays for the Rotherham youth side, so I don't know what he'll do if they go under.

Not sure, but there are a lot of worried backroom staff, as well as playing staff, at the moment. Lets hope we can pull through this.
