Afternoon,

I've recently reformatted the PC and in my haste I forgot to make a backup of my Game Saves. I was curious to see if anybody knows any reputable places I could get a hold of these from?

The two most important are HL2 and Far Cry2.

I know I could spend a few minutes on a warez site trying to find this, but I've just reformatted and wish to keep the PC clean for now!

Thanks :)

for HL2

open the console and type..

sv_unlockedchapters 15

(might have to do 'sv_cheats 1' first, can't remember)

that will let you start a new game from whichever chapter you want, then just collect the guns etc and save :)

That worked a charm! Thanks a lot bud :D

When microsoft released XP, they should have put a 'Saved Games' link in My Documents, all games would use it by now :(

They have with Vista, but no developers use it :(

C&C/Red Alert 3 use it, but it only has the save games, and not the campaign data etc, so if you format and only backed up those saves (like i did), you wont have your campaign unlocked. I wish devs would start to use this, having to hunt down save games that are hidden all over the place in hidden folders is a royal pain.

It's easy to find saved games in Vista, Start -> Games -> Right Click The Game -> Saved Games.

No need to go looking for hidden files/folders etc.. :D

But it makes more sense to have the saves in the Game folder to me. Also doesn;t this get confused when you have a games disk rather than using the c drive?
