OK, as per my previous post here:

I had decided to get an £800 iMac instead. I need a DVD burner, my monitor's dying and I wouldn't be confident upgrading a Mini's RAM myself and am loathe to pay Apple's prices for an upgrade, so an £800 iMac made more sense. Then I saw the 24" model and wanted one of those...

Except- I really wanna ditch Windows ASAP and switch to OS X. I had a good hour in the Trafford Centre store over the weekend and I'm well impressed. However, the MacRumours buying guide indicates that the Mini and iMac are approaching the end of their life-cycle and are due for updates. Now, if this was a small change in the summer (new CPU's etc) then I wouldn't be bothered, but what if it's a completely new line of desktops?

I know Mac's hold their value well, but I don't wanna fork out £800 or £1150 only to be thinking of selling in 6/12 months time.

Computers get updated all the time, that's the market and I can live with it. But I'm stuck as to whether to wait 6-12 months or just buy and get on with it.

What would you all do in my situation?

Buy and stop whining? :D
Buy and sell if the revamp (if any) is spectacularly good?
Save my pennies and wait til summer?
Save my pennies and wait til January before buying an iMac?
Buy a £400 Mini, use the DVD burner in my HTPC for the time being and flog it next January if there's an update?

Ta
:)

Cheers for the replies.

I think the main thing is, I really like the iMac as it is and it does everything I want it to do so why not?

I just wish I'd avoided looking at the 24" version in the Trafford and stuck to the 20" :)

updates are imminent, on average they change every 185 days and its been 175

I know- it's gonna take me til March-ish to get the whampum anyways but Sod's law I'll buy one days before a new release :p

But if you like the spec of the machine and it works great that who cares, get that 24" :p

Wish you were my bank manager, mate :D
