Saving up for a new PC, I would like a rough spec

Hi all!

I'm looking at getting a new PC in the coming months and would like to know what sort of spec I could get for £700ish (including monitor). The current PC is the family's so I cant borrow anything from that and will be starting completely from scratch. If buying ready made from a retailer will give better value/performance for the money then I'll go for that route instead but I'd rather self-build.

I'd be encoding and listening to music while browsing the net most of the time so I reckon I'd be best off with a C2D but I'm open to suggestions. I don't need a massive hard drive, I have roughy 10gb of music and thats about it at the moment.

Games-wise it would be nice to run some recent games on high settings with decent framerates (30fps>) (FEAR I guess is a good enough benchmark), so I'd like a little graphics muscle but I'm not going to be buying many in the future. Would an X1950 be a good bet?

One more thing, is it possible to include a TV tuner of sorts in this tight budget? I'd like to replace my 14' TV with the monitor although its not massively important (I don't want/need a large monitor, the smallest LCD will do, although I don't think OC stocks smaller monitors?)

Any suggestions for the spec?

Thanks for your time! :)

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply. One thing I did forget to mention is that I'll be hooking it up to my stereo so no speakers needed. Wohoo, it's in budget!

An extra bonus is that I may be able to get the VAT off but I'll save enough to cover the inclusive price as well.
