Saw this coming between Lian li and phanteks

Well that blows....

I was wondering about upgrading to the D30s - Reckon we'll see a massive price drop just before they go to court, or is it all just a load of hot air?

It says at the bottom of the story: If Lian Li's lawsuit is successful, then Phanteks may find itself in a position where it has to change the design of its daisy-chain fans, or pay royalties for use of the patent.

Design change is easy - Just use magnets instead of grooves. Should be a breeze...

There are already several other designs of fan that daisy-chain, albeit primarily through short connector cables, rather than interlocking the main frames.
Just a shame the Lian-Li fans aren't as powerful as they could be. Then they'd dominate the market, instead of getting in a spin when someone else does it better.

According to Nexus, its more than just the connector that the patent is trying to prove. It's a mess tbh and in all honesty i find it abit petty cos if you look back at the OG unifan, it looks nothing like the D30 in terms of design and the way its connected together. I feel like this is a money grab situation for lian li, if they win this i 100% guarantee they will go for thermaltake next for another money grab.
